Learn MoreThere are so many injectable products and treatments that it can be confusing for people who just know that they want to look younger. Dermal fillers are different from BOTOX® Cosmetic treatments, which are used to smooth out wrinkles caused by the contractions of facial muscles. Fillers can be divided into 2 groups: soft-tissue fillers and volumizers.
Dr. Rockmore also offers a special injectable treatment called KYBELLA®, which is different from soft-tissue fillers and volumizers. It dissolves fat below the chin to help slim the neck and jawline.
Injectable dermal fillers are priced by the syringe and vary between products. Visit our Pricing page for more information.
Soft-tissue fillers treat individual wrinkles, folds, and creases. If you think of a wrinkle as a valley, a soft-tissue filler raises the floor of the valley to make the wrinkle less deep. This softens the wrinkle and makes it less visible.
Commonly treated concerns include:
While it is impossible to remove every crease in the face, which would, in fact, look unnatural, soft-tissue fillers soften them and make the face look more youthful.
A “liquid rhinoplasty,” also known as a nonsurgical rhinoplasty, uses dermal fillers to temporarily reshape and contour the nose without surgery. It can lessen the appearance of a prominent bump, straighten out mild asymmetry, or adjust the tip position. However, it won’t address structural issues like breathing problems or significantly reduce nose size. If you’re seeking subtle cosmetic improvements with minimal downtime, a liquid rhinoplasty could be a good option for you.
There are a wide variety of fillers available, many composed of hyaluronic acid. Hyaluronic acid is a naturally occurring substance in our skin that keeps it hydrated and firm. Each brand family offers different formulations for a range of concerns. In your consultation with Dr. Rockmore, you will discuss all of the available options for your specific concerns, and develop a personalized plan to achieve your goal.
The soft-tissue fillers Dr. Rockmore uses include:
Depending on your concerns, Dr. Rockmore may recommend complementing your filler treatments with other skincare options to create more comprehensive results.

Volumizers are injectable treatments used to restore volume that is lost as our faces age. In recent years, plastic surgeons have evolved their understanding of the facial aging process. As the face ages, tissue shifts downward and volume is lost in the cheeks and upper face. This creates a drawn, aged appearance. The shape of the face changes as it flattens from the cheekbones to the apples of the cheeks. Volumizers are used to restore volume to the upper face and cheeks, which provides a lifting effect that is significant yet natural-looking.
The volumizers Dr. Rockmore uses include:
In addition to facial rejuvenation, Dr. Rockmore also offers a nonsurgical Brazilian butt lift using Sculptra.
Dr. Rockmore participates in the Allē℠ program, which provides discounts for multiple BOTOX treatments and Allergan products such as the JUVÉDERM family of fillers.
Learn MoreDifferent from the other injectable treatments Dr. Rockmore offers, KYBELLA doesn’t add volume or reduce wrinkles. Rather, it targets “submental fat,” also known as a double chin. Dr. Rockmore provides these injections, which usually require 2 to 4 treatment sessions, as a nonsurgical alternative to a neck lift or neck liposuction.
Lip fillers are a popular nonsurgical option in New York and beyond to enhance lip volume, improve symmetry, and smooth out fine lines around the mouth. This treatment is ideal for individuals looking to add subtle fullness, define lip shape, or address age-related thinning.
A typical lip filler appointment takes about 30 minutes, and results are visible immediately. Depending on the type of filler used, lip fillers generally last between 6 to 12 months before a touch-up may be needed to maintain your plumper pout.
By combining various injectables, Dr. Rockmore can help you maintain and rejuvenate your face. All of this can be done with little to no downtime and cost less than surgery. Though the results may not be as dramatic as surgical alternatives, injectable treatments can often be used to delay or avoid the need for plastic surgery procedures such as a facelift.

While injectable fillers are commonly used and are extremely safe, they are not without possible side effects, which include but are not limited to lumps, tissue reaction, visibility, bruising, and swelling. Many of these issues resolve quickly without treatment. In addition, there is a substance that can be injected that removes many of the fillers if a problem develops. That being said, millions of injections are performed in the U.S. each year, most without issue.
Given the versatility of filler treatments, it’s small wonder that patients often choose to combine treatments for enhanced facial rejuvenation. Some of the most popular filler pairings include:
Restylane has a thicker, more cohesive consistency than other, smoother fillers. This difference in texture provides greater staying power and “buildability” so that volume can be layered to treat deep-set wrinkles or sunken, hollow areas of the face.
Although BOTOX and dermal fillers both treat fine lines and wrinkles, they do so in different ways. BOTOX eases the muscles that form dynamic expression lines by temporarily blocking the nerve signals that tell the muscles to contract.
Dermal fillers, in contrast, add volume to static wrinkles for a smooth, supple surface. One treatment or the other may be better suited to your needs; however, combining the two injectables as part of a liquid facelift often yields the most comprehensive results.
Depending on the formulation and where they were injected, fillers can last anywhere between 6 and 18 months. Fillers in more animated areas of the face, such as the lips, tend to wear off faster than those in less mobile areas like the cheeks.
Most patients choose to maintain their results with periodic “top-up” treatments.
Yes. Injections of hyaluronidase can dissolve hyaluronic acid-based fillers, reversing the effects of the filler procedure.
Fillers can rejuvenate many areas of the face without the need for surgery and downtime. Most patients love their revitalized appearance and invest in regular maintenance treatments to keep looking and feeling their best.
Although we hope you love your filler results, keep in mind that the enhancements are temporary and can be reversed if desired.
Dermal filler injections are usually well-tolerated with minimal pain and discomfort. Most practices will apply a topical numbing cream or even use lidocaine (a local anesthetic) to numb the treatment area beforehand and make the patient as comfortable as possible. Most fillers also contain lidocaine for additional comfort during injection.
You may experience some mild swelling and tenderness after the procedure, but most discomfort fades within a couple days.
After your lip filler appointment, you should avoid strenuous exercise, alcohol, and excessive sun or heat exposure for at least 24 to 48 hours so you don’t worsen swelling and bruising. It’s also best to avoid touching or massaging the treated area to prevent unwanted filler migration.
