Tummy Tuck Before & After Case 189
Before & After
Case Details
This 56-year-old woman came to see me because she was unhappy with the appearance of her belly. She had gained some weight through the years, which worsened after menopause. She also had surgery on her abdomen which left her with an indented vertical scar. While she did not expect a washboard like abdomen, she wished to be flatter and have her waistline back.
As you can see on the before photographs, she had a combination of loose skin, muscle laxity and fat. This is a common combination that plagues many of us as we reach the middle ages, and has worsened by abdominal surgeries, in women, after menopause. This is best treated with a combination of a tummy tuck and liposuction. Her belly, flanks, and back were treated with liposuction to remove the unwanted fat and contour these areas. This helped us to bring in the waistline and contour the back as is visible in the lateral before and after photographs. A tummy tuck was performed to tighten the abdominal muscles and remove the loose skin. Tightening of the abdominal muscles allows the creation of a flat foundation which we can then tighten the skin over. This combination can markedly improve the contour of the belly as is shown in this woman.
The photographs shown here are six weeks after the procedure. The scar around the belly button will continue to fade quite nicely while the horizontal scar is hidden within the underwear line. As you can also see, the vertical scar was able to be removed in its entirety.
