Tummy Tuck Before & After Case 197

This 53-year-old woman visited our Albany County office in Latham, New York, to improve her abdomen.  She had a previous surgery which left her with an indented scar of her lower stomach.  She also had overhang which never seemed to go away with diet and exercise.  She wanted her belly to look better and came to discuss the options.  

Her preoperative photographs show a combination of loose skin with overhang and fat.  Tummy tucks are excellent for tightening up the skin as well as the muscles but do not remove fat.  Liposuction is excellent for removing fat and contouring the body.  Frequently these are combined to give us the best results.  A combination of tummy tuck and liposuction was used in this patient to flatten her belly.   As you can see in the after photograph, a tummy tuck allows us to remove pre-existing abdominal scars.  She now has a transverse scar which is hidden by her underwear and will fade nicely over time in most cases.  Liposuction was used to contour her waistline and also remove some of the fat of her central belly.  Her belly is now flat and she is extremely happy with her results.
